LifeMoves Announces Leadership Transition and Celebrates Transformational Growth Under CEO Aubrey Merriman
SANTA CLARA, Calif. — April 9, 2026 — LifeMoves today announced that Aubrey Merriman is leaving his role as Chief Executive Officer after five years of transformative leadership, during which the organization significantly expanded its reach, services and impact across Silicon Valley.
During Merriman’s tenure, LifeMoves solidified its role as the leading interim housing services provider in the Bay Area, growing approximately threefold while broadening its service delivery model. As outlined in its FY25 Impact Report, LifeMoves served 6,317 individuals and families across 25 physical sites and additional community-based programs in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties. Ninety percent of LifeMoves clients received the intensive case management and tailored support they needed to find housing, financial stability, health and wellbeing and personalized pathways to long-term stable housing. Under Aubrey’s leadership, investments in data-driven results and innovative service models have enabled more clients to find successful outcomes, including the 96% of families who exited to permanent housing and were still permanently housed a year later.
“Five years ago, we hired Aubrey to lead LifeMoves because we saw in him the vision, passion and commitment to innovation and outcomes that would help LifeMoves grow in its role as Silicon Valley’s leading provider of interim supportive housing and services,” said Melissa Selcher, Chair of the LifeMoves Board of Directors. “During his tenure, LifeMoves has experienced extraordinary growth and visibility, when the need is more acute than ever. We are deeply grateful to Aubrey for his service and for the meaningful impact LifeMoves achieved during his tenure.”
“Over the past five years, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing what’s possible when a dedicated team and an engaged community come together with a shared purpose,” said outgoing CEO Aubrey Merriman. “Alongside our government and private-sector partners, we’ve expanded LifeMoves’ reach and served more clients than at any point in our 40-year history. I am deeply proud of the LifeMoves team and grateful to the civic, nonprofit and business leaders across Silicon Valley who have made addressing homelessness a true priority. This progress is the result of collective commitment and I’m honored to have been part of a team working every day to create lasting change.”
Nick Hodges, LifeMoves’ current COO, has stepped in as interim CEO. Nick brings extensive governance, fundraising, finance and operations experience from his senior leadership roles in both the public and private sector and across the philanthropic spectrum. The Board will initiate a search process for the organization’s next CEO and is committed to a thoughtful transition that maintains operational stability and continued service delivery, ensuring every current and future client has the access to interim housing and supportive services they need and deserve.
“LifeMoves is well-positioned for continued success,” added Vice Board Chair Tammy Crown. “We are as confident as ever that the foundation built over the past several years — including expanded programs, strong community relationships and a respected fundraising platform — ensures that LifeMoves will continue delivering critical services and driving solutions to homelessness throughout Silicon Valley.”
